Hey "ya'll"! Not much has been going on around Denver lately. I am into the second week of my new job and LOVE it! The people are so nice and welcoming and I love being at the front desk with everyone coming in and out all day. My co-worker Kim has been a life saver and has taught me all the ropes of the company. She brings me fruit everyday and little presents, how sweet is she?! I met a woman from Mississippi today who invited me to watch the MSU games at a local bar in town, what a small world! The accent is still a hit, I've been asked to say all kinds of things, I partly think it is one of the things that has gotten me this far! Besides work I have seriously been going to bed at like 9:30 every night because I'm so exhausted at the end of the day. Now I know how my mom feels! :)
This past weekend we went to Quixote's to see Cedric Burnside play the blues. He was all about Mississippi and had us feeling like we were back at home. The bar where we were was just like the Blue's Bar (except covered in tie dye!) and had an enormous back porch with another band playing outside. Saturday I got to see Boulder for the first time. I met Elizabeth Anne and some of our MS friends at Beaujo's to watch the MSU game, which was amazing! Later that night they showed me around and we ended up on Pearl Street. This street is walking traffic only and there was a festival going on this weekend so we browsed all of the booths. There was so much artwork and handmade jewelry, clothings, and accessories. I fell in love with Boulder this weekend!
I think we are planning to be living in Boulder by the end December. I love Denver soo much and have hardly been here any time, but Boulder has that real mountain feel to it. It reminds me a lot of Aspen, where I used to stay all the time as a kid. Also in Boulder there are Aspen trees everywhere and it is a much smaller town, something I can definitely relate to being from the Delta.
Until then... We are here waiting for the snow and cold weather and opening weekend so that we can ski :) It is still about 85 degrees here during the day, but a much different heat than MS heat. It hardly ever rains and when it does it is only for a few short minutes... Which by the way, I could sure use a severe Delta rainstorm in my life! It actually hit me today that I have picked my life up and moved out here. At first I felt like I was on a really amazing vacation and now it is my really amazing life! I am so lucky to be able to do something like this AND have a job. Now my next project will be getting my mom on a plane to come and see me. She told EA's mom she was coming after the snow... Bad news mom, that's not until next year!
Missing you all a lot today and remembering my sweet grandfather, Papa, today who I know is looking down on me and thinking 1. What the hell is she doing? and 2. How proud he is of me at the same time! :) Time sure passes quickly and what a great day it is to have all of my fond memories of him!
Looooooove you guys!
