Hello friends and family! Sorry for not posting last night but Kayla and I were absolutely exhausted last night. When we left Colorado Springs the day before yesterday, we drove to Denver to see our new house and unpack a few things. We absolutely love our house! It is precious and very easy to get to, thank goodness! We visited with Elizabeth Anne and her parents were headed to stay with her the next day... Sooo we hopped back in the car and took a trip to Jackson Hole, WY to see our friends! I think we'd both agree that after three days of driving it was the longest trip of our lives. We did see some buffalo though so that was exciting, we had to make a U-turn to get pictures to share with you all!
We finally made it around 10 PM and went straight to the local pizza parlor (AMAZING) and got a bite to eat! At this point of our trip our friends were completely unaware that we were coming to see them, and it was so late that we were afraid to go to their apartment, but we did anyway! To our surprise they were wide awake and ready to hang out and visit! After catching up for a while around the bonfire, we all agreed that a late night mountain trip was the thing to do. We drove about 45 minutes into the national park and came to Signal Mountain. At the very top was a lookout point, and it happened to be a full moon last night, so it was a beautiful sight to see! We saw so many elk and antelope last night. They are amazing to watch and let us drive right up next to them.
Today was a very packed day. We woke up around 10 and decided to go kayaking at Jenny Lake in the national park. It was my first time kayaking and I must say I loved it! The lake is located right next to the Tetons and the view was breathtaking. We decided to pull to the bank and take a swim but little did Kayla and I know that the water was about 40 degrees or colder! The water was crystal clear and I could see all the way to the bottom. It took my breathe away when I stepped in but Kayla was a champion and hopped right in. She swam out into the water and climbed onto a rock and did a front flip and a dive! Danny suffered a few cuts on his feet and hands, but nurse Kayla bandaged him up! We took plenty of pictures to show you all!
After kayaking, our friend, Ricky, told us that he knew of a waterfall that we should check out at Yellowstone, so we hopped back into the car and headed that way. We climbed down into the woods to find this gigantic waterfall, and it was my first time to see one in person, so I wanted to get in! We swam underneath and around it to the other side. Ricky got onto the bank and took our picture on the other side! Leaving the waterfall was another story! I decided since the drop of the water was so hard and the current was so strong that I would float myself backwards along the wall of the water... Big mistake! The current and force of the waterfall sucked me under for a good 10 seconds, and of course I panicked! I came up gasping and freaking out all at the same time. Thank goodness Ricky was right there! It was a pretty good scare, and I swallowed my fair share of water, but all came out okay! Our joke of the day was how "unfortunate" our injuries/mishaps had been!
There is so much more that I want to tell you guys, but so little time to write, as I am at a cookout and visiting with Danny and Ricky! We love you and miss you and I promise to update again soon! :)
