Hey friends and family!  Today we got to sleep in pretty late, and Kayla and I were happy because we have been going and doing nonstop for 5 days now!  Last night at our cookout we built a bonfire and Danny played the guitar for us.  We went to the playground down the street and acted like we were kids for a good hour or so too.  Danny made us an amaaazing breakfast this morning and we got dressed to go on our first hike.  We hiked 2 miles into the mountains and it was seriously a workout.  We came to the end of the first trail which opened into a crystal clear lake surrounded by the mountains.  The water was blue and we could see straight to the bottom.  We also were able to see Death Canyon on our way down another trail that led to a huge rock that you were able to jump off of!  Kayla paced and waited and paced and finally decided she was going to make the big jump 30 feet down into the water.  We started a countdown for her and she took off and hopped over the edge, screaming the whole way down!

The wildflowers along the hike were beautiful and of course I took a million pictures of them!  We also saw many little chipmunks, who weren't scared of us at all!  When we came back to the lake's opening we decided to go for a swim.  The water was freeeezing cold and I could barely stand it!  Kayla, Danny, and Ricky swam out into the middle to these rocks sticking out of the water and I decided to find a rock a little closer in that I could lay out on.

Right before we left we decided to have a snack.  I'm assuming the chipmunks could smell our food because one crawled right up onto the rock that Kayla and I were sitting on and snatched a chip from us and left!  It was really an unforgettable day, and my very first hike (and I LOVED it).  Kayla and I are exhausted and sore already.  We decided that tonight we are all going to have a nice sit down dinner at a local steakhouse, visit the art galleries, and go hear some local music.

Thinking of you all every day and missing you tons!
