Major update! I haven't blogged in ten days... Sad! Besides my usual week there were a few things that have happened in the past few days that were big firsts for me. To start, I went to see my first pro basketball game with some co-workers and EA and Kayla! We went to see the Denver Nuggets and it was quite an experience. The seats were amazing and the tickets were free :) This past week I have been anticipating my big weekend in Aspen. Before now I hadn't been there in like ten years. Friday couldn't come soon enough and I was almost sick to my stomach with anticipation and anxiety!
We made it there Friday around 9 and of course things have changed since I was there last so naturally I got lost trying to find the house. When we finally got in it took my breath away. It was like all of my memories from times past came flooding back to me. It is truly my favorite place on earth. There is nothing like watching and listening to the snow fall silently while sitting outside. It is almost therapeutic for me. The first thing I did was run out onto the front porch. It is literally maybe 50 yards from the ski lift and ten feet from the slopes. We quickly got dressed and met some of EA's friends in Aspen town and also saw an old friend of ours from Greenville! Even though we were exhausted we were up visiting until 4AM so the next day was a little rough :) Kayla and I ate lunch at Little Annie's (one of my favorite restaurants) and walked around town to shop. We both bought our first pair of Moon Boots--which if you haven't seen them, check them out! They are so cool--And I finally got the rest of my ski gear so that I will be ready this weekend for the slopes. We met our friends at their house in town to watch the State game, but I was so tired I ended up sleeping through the entire thing. What a great fan I am!
Saturday night was a slow one and we all went back to the house to go to bed early, which I didn't mind at all. I made a big pot of coffee and got in the bed and watched TV. When we had to leave this morning I was very sad. We also drove through blizzard after blizzard most of the way home. Good to know my car can make it through! Two days there just wasn't enough. There are so many things and places that I want to revisit there as well as old friends that I want to go and see. I hope to go back in the next few weeks :)
Danny and Ricky are still with us at the house and are having trouble deciding whether they should move back to Chicago or stick it out here in Denver. It took us about a month or so to find jobs so we keep giving them the encouragement they need. It is really frustrating to be in a place you know nothing about with limited money and no job. For now they think they will go back home because they will have better opportunity for work there... but Kayla and I are trying to convince them otherwise. We need our best friends out west with us! In case they decide to leave us for their next adventure we are going to make their last few days here with us much fun. Tonight we went bowling and tomorrow night they are treating us to dinner!
Counting down the days until I come home for Christmas, love you all! :)
